This cooler is nearly indestructible and is bear resistant, a very nice touch when you’re out with your mates in the forest.

At the end of the week, when you’re finished having a good time, take the pressure washer to this beast with a little mild soap and it’s all clean. The Yeti Tundra 35 Cooler is portable enough for one person to haul while still having an impressive carrying capacity. This cooler is able to haul around 20 chilled silver bullets. Initially, we didn’t really think there was much difference between this cooler and a cheap one, but we were wrong. Following the instructions provided by Yeti and the recommendations in the video below, this cooler definitely holds that cool temperature for a long time.

So far, it is a great cooler and possible the best ice chest we’ve ever used. Expected, I guess. It’s a Yeti. One thing to note is that when the wire rack is in place inside this cooler you don’t have a lot of extra room. We tend to pack heavy, so if you are similar, the Yeti 45 might be a better option.

Yeah, we were surprised too.

Don’t kid yourself, this big salmon collector is expensive, simply because it is one large cooler. It weighs 70lbs when empty and when loaded, especially with drinks, don’t think about lifting it or going to far. Then again if you keep it in your truck bed like a tool box because you are so often out hunting and fishing, then this shouldn’t be a concern.

The common cause of replacement doesn’t appear to be from failure or the old lid latches going bad but rather oxidation from being in direct sunlight for 5 plus years and leave your hands black when you touch them. If you’re worried about this happening. Don’t fret, replacement is a breeze with most people stating that it “took literally 30 seconds or less to replace”.

Yeti Tundra Cooler Handles come in three different sizes small, medium, and large. Small Fits Tundra Cooler sizes 35 & 45. Medium Fits Tundra Cooler sizes 50, 65, 75, 105, 110, 125, 160. Large Fits Tundra Cooler sizes 210, 250, 350. Actually, breaking the handles on your Yeti Tundra Cooler is quite a feat because they’re made from marine-grade polyester rope and unless you snag the handle on your open pocket knife blade, we don’t see how they’d ever fail.

Yeti Tundra Cooler Badger Wheels Accessory

It’s never fun having to try and carry an extremely heavy cooler in the midst of a good time and some of these Yeti Tundra Coolers are downright heavy when they’re empty, let alone full of ice and cold ones. Once you go above the Yeti Tundra 50 size and fill it with ice and drinks, you’re most likely going to need help carrying it. The rubber feet on the bottom of they cooler making pushing or dragging it difficult, so these wheels are a godsend.

We didn’t find any Yeti manufactured wheel accessories for their Tundra coolers but we did find some slick ones on Amazon from Badger wheels. Do yourself a favor, buy the two axle kit or else you’re Yeti will sit very unlevel when stationary, unless you plan on carrying an allen key around to remove and fasten the wheels every time you move it. Trust us you’ll thank yourself every time your having a good time and you look at your Yeti thinking I have to move that beast again.

If you’re looking to improve the versatility of your Yeti Tundra Cooler one of the best investment you can make is installing a Yeti Tundra Cooler Seat Cushion. These seat cushions have at least 2 inches of dense foam (3 inches in the Yeti Tundra 125, 160 & 250 cushions) and come in two color options white and camo. Once installed make an extra seat on the boat or in your duck blind where a small foot print is always appreciated. Yeti Tundra Cooler 1lb, 2lb, or 4lb Ice Packs Accessory

From experience and through reading the reviews online the Yeti Ice Packs is the most heavily contested accessory for the Tundra Coolers.  The custom shape of the Yeti ice packs with the increased surface area reduces the required freezing time. That’s true, and due to this same custom shape we’ve found it will not stay frozen as long as the generic ice blocks. We believe these ice packs were not designed to remain completely frozen for hours, but rather designed to maximize the cooling temperature effects on your food and beverages without causing “slushy” drinks. Nobody enjoy’s worrying about the possible effects of drinking partially frozen beer in the middle of a good time!

Whether or not this is a deal breaker for yourself depends on your intended purpose. If you want something that stays frozen longer and might make your contents slushy go with the generic ice block. If you want a product that will maximize the cooling affects on your cooler contents and avoid making them slushy, then pick up the Yeti Ice Pack they’ll serve a welcome addition to your ice stash to make sure your contents stay colder, not slushy for longer.

Yeti Tundra Cooler Dividers Accessory

Yeti Tundra Cooler Dividers really make organizing your Yeti easy. Each divider fits directly inside the molded in divider groove in the Tundra series, allowing your cold ones to stay tightly packed on one side. This will be a relief when they don’t explode all over you when you first crack them open. No bouncing beers, but plenty of space for your grub. These dividers also make great cutting boards to fillet your catch when not in use. The short divider is the vertical divider and the long divider is the horizontal divider.

One thing that should be noted is the divider once installed does not keep melted ice water from going from one side of the cooler to the other. These are meant to separate solids, not act as a water-proof barrier.

Yeti Tundra Cooler Security Cable & Locking Bracket Accessory

It’s a great feeling being able to leave your Yeti Tundra cooler somewhere vulnerable and not have to worry about it being taken by bandits or high school kids who can’t buy their own beer.

The Yeti Security Cable & Locking Bracket is made from high-strength carbon steel with the lock bracket designed to fit into your  Yeti Cooler anchor point. The 6 ft. long cable is strong with a fully adjustable lock, holds tight at any position and easily threads through anchor points making sure it’ll be able to do it’s job. It’ll require a hacksaw or bolt cutters to fail, if that’s the case there isn’t many security devices that’ll withstand that. This locking device is compatible with the majority of cables or chain and lock of your choosing at your local hardware supply store.

Yeti Tundra Cooler Rod Holster Accessory

Just like everything other Yeti accessory this product is durable and fits snugly on your Yeti cooler Each cooler provides two extra places to hold a rod one on each side. It’s usefulness is proved when when your retying a leader or help bag that big marlin your buddy has on the line. The one warning we’d provide is to periodically check the screws holding it together that you’ll see in the video below. Over time they’ve been known to vibrate out of the plastic inserts, making it a great way to loose an expensive rod and reel. We recommend replacing the short screws with longer screws that go all the way through and end with washers and lock nuts on the back. Other then that, this is one great product.

However, if you’re planning to slide your Yeti cooler in an out of the back of your pickup truck you’re going to want to install the sliding feet accessory. We recommend that you only replace two of the four feet with sliding feet on your Yeti Cooler. That way you’ll be able to tip the cooler up and slide out and slide back. The other two feet are the original rubber feet which will help keep the cooler from sliding around your boat deck or truck bed.

“Why are Yeti Coolers so expensive, are they worth the money?

“How long does ice last in a Yeti Cooler?”

Here is what Yeti has to say on their website FAQ page:

There are many variables that will affect ice retention, so this is a difficult question for us to answer. Variables that can affect ice retention include the ice quality, ice quantity, type of ice (crushed, block, cube, dry), outside environment, exposure to direct sunlight, etc. Which is to say there’s a lot you can do to affect the longevity of your ice.

The Yeti Tundra 350 Cooler is the largest premium cooler in the Yeti lineup. The Yeti website states it has a staggering 19,000 cubic inches of capacity and enough interior space to hold 82.4 gallons. That’s a lot of cold ones, 222 cans to be exact with a 2 to 1 beer to ice ratio. They state the only limit is your limit because space is never an issue, and we’d have to agree. The best Yeti cooler size depends entirely on your planned application for your Yeti. The information above will help ensure you get the right cooler the first time for your particular needs.

“How do you clean a Yeti Cooler?”

Here is what Yeti has to say on their website FAQ page for Hard-Sided Yeti Tundra Cooler:

For general cleaning, we recommend using soap and warm water.

For a more thorough cleansing and problems with strong odors, use a solution of warm water and bleach (6:1 ratio) with a sponge or mildly abrasive rag. Odors can easily get trapped in hard to reach areas such as around the gasket and drain plug, so be sure to thoroughly scrub those areas.

For tough stains and very foul odors we would recommend cleaning your YETI with a high pressure soap spray found at a local do-it yourself car wash.

Here is what Yeti has to say on their website FAQ page for Soft Yeti Hopper Cooler:

A mixture of dish soap and water should do the trick. Rinse with fresh water and then thoroughly wipe the inside dry with a cloth or paper towel. Leave the HydroLok™ Zipper open for several days to ensure all moisture has dried. Taking care of your HydroLok Zipper is also extremely important. Each Hopper comes with a small tube of lubricant. Make sure you apply this lubricant following cleaning, before storage, and anytime the zipper feels stiff. Make sure your zipper is always free of dirt, grim, or other debris for maximum performance and life.

Always store your Hopper in the fully closed position, making sure the inside is completely dry.

“What are Yeti Coolers made of, how are they made?”

Yeti Coolers are made of polyethylene and made using the rotomold process. From the Yeti website FAQ page:

The rotational molding (also known as rotomold) process is a high-temperature, low-pressure plastic forming process that uses heat and biaxial rotation (i.e., rotation on two axes) to produce hollow, one-piece parts. The YETI cooler mold is loaded with polyethylene in powder form. The mold is then placed in a large oven while it rotates on two axes at different speeds, which helps prevent powder from accumulating in one spot. The polyethylene melts and adheres evenly to the wall of the mold. Once the polyethylene is melted, the molds are pulled out of the oven to cool. And once cool, the ice chest is then removed from the mold. It’s kind of like a huge, spinning Easy-Bake Oven that cranks out coolers instead of cakes.

The process has inherent design strengths, such as consistent wall thickness and strong outside corners that are virtually stress-free. The rotational molding process gives the coolers one-piece construction and unmatched durability.
