If all you’ve got are friends and drinks and you’re all amped to play a game, Thumper is exactly what you’re looking for. Get together at least four players (although the more the merrier rule definitely applies here), and get to it! Here’s how to play thumper drinking game with rules.

How To Play Thumper Drinking Game:

Here’s our take on how to play Thumper, have each player choose a personal hand gesture to represents them during the entire game. Players should pick something that is short and easy. Be creative! Think thumbs up, raising your middle finger, or clapping your hands. The point of these gestures is that they’re easy and short.

  • Moose antlers – raise your hands to your head and spread your fingers to make them look like moose antlers.
  • Army salute – A classic, really easy to remember too!
  • Binoculars – Raise your hands up to your eyes as if you are looking through binoculars.
  • Comb – Act like you are running a comb through your hair or slicking it back.
  • Shots – Act like you are taking two shots of liquor. This one is especially funny when you screw up and end up having to drink.

Once everybody has decided their hand gestures and shown the table, the game starts!

Pick one player to act as the “leader.” After you have the leader picked out, everyone should begin drumming on the table. The leader will then ask, “WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE GAME?” Yelling is encouraged. The players should respond with, “THUMPER!”  The leader calls back, “AND WHY DO WE PLAY THE GAME?” To which the group responds, “TO GET FUCKED UP!”

So, with all players still drumming, the group leader starts with his first gesture then performs the gesture of any other player. That player must then do his own gesture then followed  by another player’s gesture. This goes on until someone misses their turn, does the wrong gesture or takes too long to respond. The player who messes up must take a drink, then the game starts again.

You can make the game more interesting by switching up the speed to double time or slow motion to bring some more fun out of the game.

That’s it! It’s a simple game to learn but it can be one of the most fun drinking games around.
